This scroll shows an armor from the
sengoku era (1482-1568) which has - for exhibition purposes - placed on a storage chest (
gusoku bitsu). The crest on the breastplate indicates that it could be an armor of the
Ando family,
daimyô of
Tanabe in the
Kii province. In the middle of their mon they had ascending wisteria. In the foreground there is a stand with two swords as well as a war fan (gunbi).
Despite the fact that it looks gloomy, it is a very impressive
kagemono.
