The movie is based on the tales "Tasogare Seibei, Hoito Sukehachi and Takemitsu Shimatsu" from Shûhei Fujisawa. It belongs to the genre Jidai-geki, but is, however, in many aspects special as it describes everyday life of a samurai. There are, however, only a few battle scenes.
