Japan in the 17th century. The shogun Tokugawa forbids the Christian religion. Christians are tracked and murdered. The government groups turn it into a massacre and kill 37.000 Christians.

Shiro Amakusa, leader of the Christians, thereupon turns away from God. The samurai Jubei, an excellent sword fighter, opposes him. When the demons casts a spell over his father in order to weaken Jubei, he instructs a sword producer to fabricate a special sword: A bad sword - as only the bad can kill the bad...
