This scroll shows a member of a
daimyô procession (
daimyô sankin-totai) during the
Edo era. At that time, it was the duty of the lords to seasonally reside in the court of the
shôgun. Thus they often had to walk large distances from the provinces to
Edo. Generally, these travels were extensively celebrated. The
kagemono shows a man carrying a packed
kyudo bow tith accessories.

Taishô – Early in
Shôwa).

Condition: Moderate, pale colours,
honshi slightly brown due to its age, five water spots on the left side. Stronger buckles. Some spots on the rear side are reinforced. Despite the mentioned defects caused by its old age, the scroll is without doubt a very interesting and rare scroll.
