The scientist Temmangû
This scroll shows the leader of the Sugawara family and great academic Temmangû (posthum) who is said to have  been the first academic of the Japanese empire. Due to defamation of the Fujiwara family, Michizane felt in disgrace and was exiled to Kyûshû. 20 years after his death he was rehabilitated and given divine honour.

Condition: Good. Fresh colours; honshi darkened due to its age. Little water spains at the right bottom of the honshi which, however, are barely visible. Slight spots due to its age and some small crease marks.
Overall a beautiful and colourful scroll.
